This product does work as long as you watch what you eat. If you eat too much fat you will have frequent explosive bowel movements .

Alli definitely does what it promises - it makes it so your body doesn't absorb 25% of fat. The prescription dose is 120mg and that keeps your body from absorbing 33% of fat, so you can take 2 for slightly better results. If your already eating well and exercising it'll speed up weight loss a little, how much depending on how many calories you eat from fat (the more the better alli can help). Or, you can just eat a little more while still loosing weight at the same rate. I'm already thin and I stay on a very calorie restricted diet, alli allows me to eat a little more to keep me sane without gaining weight. If your gaining weight, it'll make you gain slightly slower although expect bad "treatment effects". The treatment affects depend on how much fat you eat but shouldn't be bad at all if your eating healthy, I dont really feel any eating 800-1100 calories. On the days you allow yourself to indulge, just be careful (dont pass gas if your not at the toilet) and you'll be fine. If your constantly feeling more than just mild treatment effects, it probably means you aren't eating as well as you should be. So the bottom line is, alli does do what it says, how you use these extra calories is up to you.

I love this stuff, and I have not had any bad experiences with any bad side effects (oily discharge, etc.) This product is great, just when you think you might have blown your diet, Alli is there to save the day and get you back on track. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a little help in their dieting lifestyle.

I rated this item at 5 stars because it does exactly what it is advertised to do. I made the decision to work at losing weight. I had been on the weight watchers program, and had started spending some time on an eliptical trainer. I was having some success at this. When I introduced Alli to the mix, results did indeed improve! Instead of losing 2-5 pounds a month, I began losing 4-8. I've lost 40 pounds so far, and I'm going to stay the course. The few times I suffered the undesirable effects explained in other reviews and in the warnings from the product, it was because I ate too much fat at one time. It just helped to imprint in my mind what was going into my body, and thank goodness it didn't stay there. Used correctly, this product works. If you intend to eat mainly fried foods and foods rich in fat, then I would steer clear of this product. It is designed to keep your body from processing the fat, preventing it from being stored as fat in you. So, as a result, it is expelled in your stool. Imagine all the cooking oil that is absorbed when potatoes are fried in it. Now imagine that much cooking oil moving through your body by itself, and what that might cause in the end. Once you decide to lose weight and eat healthier, then I would highly recommend this product to enhance your efforts.

Yes, I know all about the "nasty" effects. I tried this product back when it was Xenical and was twice the mgs. Lets just say the side effects back then were *explosive* but the weight loss was amazing. I stopped using it because I switched jobs and could no longer be close to a restroom at all times if needed.
I have now begun using alli and I have to tell you, even though the dosage has dropped to 60mg--it still does its job. It is in no way magical-you still need to exercise. I don't do a gut busting work out but I do take brisk walks for at least 30 minutes at night. 12 lbs lost the 1st 2 weeks.
Results are I'm sure based on the individual but if you follow the directions and not assume you can still shove pizza and other greasy foods into your body without a disaster looming - this is not for you.
It takes awhile to realize the schedule that your body is on to eliminate the waste from this product. I used a calendar and wrote down times I ate, times I had to, you know...and then kept myself on basically the same eating schedule. This resulted in basically the same time when I had to, you know....
The "you know" I think is the greatest fear that people have about alli.
You just need to commit to the directions, keep a log of eating, etc and you should be okay in my opinion.
