Product Description
Nearly 2 million sold and it's easy to see why. This inexpensive labelmaker makes it easy to label and organize everything around your home. Label files in your home office, organize photo albums, identify light switches and circuit breakers, label food containers in the kitchen, identify garden supplies, and much more. Designed to fit neatly into the palm of your hand, with a simple ABC keyboard ideal for adults and children. Prints labels on 1/2" (12 mm) wide tape in a variety of materials and colors.

Amazon.com Review
Remember those handheld plastic label makers we all had as kids? You'd spin the wheel around and then clamp down when you got to the right letter (and you had to clamp hard to make a mark on that heavy-duty plastic strip). After you got your name out or made a message like "This is mine keep your hands off," you'd discover you spelled "keep" as "kep" and had to start over. Plus, the tape would invariably buckle and fall off wherever you stuck it.

Now label makers have joined the information age. The LetraTag 2000 labelmaker is akin to a handheld word processor, and boy, is it fun to use. There are so many cool little features that you really do need to read the instructions to take full advantage of it. To get started, you just flip up the top of the labelmaker and insert the cartridge. This model comes with 13 feet of standard white tape, but you can purchase extra paper, plastic, or metallic labels in seven different colors. The LetraTag requires six AA batteries, which are not included. Once those are in, you can press the red power button and get started.

The LetraTag defaults to normal text and lowercase letters, but with a little inputting you can create capitals, bold, big bold, italic, outlined, shadowed, or vertical text. It also has a box/underline feature that will surround your text with underlines or rounded, shaded, toothed, or pointed boxes, plus our favorite, the crocodile box (the croc grins at you!). If your labeling area is tight, you can use the two-line feature to double up the text so it prints two lines instead of one. It also provides a host of international letters and accent marks in addition to a range of symbols including a telephone, smiley face, heart, and cat.

As you input your label, what you've typed scrolls across the LCD screen (up to 72 characters). To go back and change your message, just use the arrow keys. When you're ready to print, you can press "shift-print preview" to see your label. Once the label is printed, just press the scissors key and the label will pop off. Handily, the last label made will automatically be retained in memory in case you turn the LetraTag off by accident.

Great for the home or office, kids or adults, the LetraTag is handy and easy to use, and comes in a funky translucent lime-green color. --Dana Van Nest

5 out of 5 stars Even an 8-year-old can use it!   January 6, 2009
I bought this for my 8-year-old grandaughter for Christmas (along with other office supplies). She loved it! Her mom says she has organized and labeled everything in her room, and a few other things throughout the house such as light switches. It's a good thing I bought extra rolls of label tape.

1 out of 5 stars Letratag a big disappointment!   December 31, 2008
I received a Dymo Letratag Personal Label Maker for Christmas- What a disappointment! On the plus side it is like a "mini-computer"(five languages, many symbols, etc). On the minus side:
1.I promptly went out to find more tapes colors, and metallic.
2.Boy, are they expensive! $8-to-$9 a tape in my community!
2. After trying the metallic tape twice, my results were that only the bottom half of the tape was printed on! I called Dymo, the lady on the phone told me that my batteries must not be fresh! I told her they were brand new! The "color" tapes only work with the optional A/C adapter, she went on to tell me!
3. At this point I repackaged the "Letratag" and returned it for a refund!

2 out of 5 stars Will not buy again   December 18, 2008
Was happy with product when I first got it. Found that the tape tends to jam which wastes tape. Now the display has become unreadable. Put in fresh batteries but didn't fix problem. I have owned it for a year but it has only printed four rolls of labels in that time.

5 out of 5 stars great organization tool   December 14, 2008
Great product for the money! Makes getting organized easy! Just make sure your batteries are charged/replaced often b/c your labels won't print and you'll be wondering what you're doing wrong!

5 out of 5 stars Good Enough   November 24, 2008

For what I need, this has worked fine. No problems, and it's easy to learn how to use it. It may not be good for big jobs needing larger print, but for what I've needed so far, it's good. I'll give it a 5.
